Births, deaths and marriages
As of 1 June 2009, the priority service for Change of Name requests will be suspended until further notice. This will assist the change of name unit in processing the current volume of outstanding applications and overall timeframes for clients.
From early July 2009, certificates issued by the Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages will be produced on new security paper.
Our Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages is responsible for the registration in Queensland of:
- births
- deaths
- marriages
- changes of name
- ministers of religion
- adoptions.
We can also supply birth, death, marriage and change of name certificates to eligible applicants. The Registrar-General apologises for any delays that may be currently experienced in the provision of some certificates.

The Brisbane registry provides a stylish venue and marriage celebrant for couples wishing to have a civil marriage ceremony.
