Mediation
Our department can help you settle disputes without having to go to court.
We have dispute resolution centres throughout Queensland where trained mediators bring disputing parties together to talk over their differences and reach an agreement.
Mediation can be used in the following types of disputes:
- neighbourhood
- family
- separating couples
- commercial
- workplace
- property.
Our mediation services are generally provided free to the public, though facilitations and workplace mediations are provided on a fee-for-service basis.
You can also download the new Neighbourhood Mediation Kit which provides advice on how to approach your neighbour to discuss a concern and tips on setting up mediation. It also includes a workbook to help people prepare for mediation.
Dispute resolution centres also recruit and train mediators to conduct mediations within the community. Find out more about becoming a mediator.
