Tuesday 13 May

Event name: 12 Angry Men
Location: Banco Court, Level 2, Law Courts Complex, 304 George Street, Brisbane
Event details:

7:00pm

Reginald Rose's classic "12 Angry Men" comes to the Banco Court, complete with real solicitors, barristers and judges. A rehearsed reading by special arrangement with Dominie Pty Ltd.

It is 1954 and a terrible murder has been committed - a man has been stabbed, apparently by his own son. For this kind of crime there is only one penalty - the death penalty. As the jury retire to consider their verdict, it seems almost certain that the defendant will be put to death. Nearly all of the jurors are convinced of his guilt - except one. The argument that follows has been on stage countless times, and also on film - twice.

The cast includes:

  • The Hon Chief Justice Paul de Jersey
  • The Hon Justice HG Fryberg
  • The Hon Justice AM Daubney
  • Stephen Keim SC
  • Ralph Devlin SC
  • Matthew Foley, barrister-at-law, former Attorney-General and Minister for the Arts
  • Peter Carne, CEO, Queensland Law Society
  • Terry O'Gorman, Partner, Robertson O'Gorman Solicitor

Also featuring:

  • Bryan Probets as Juror 10
  • Paul Bishop as Juror 8

The evening will conclude with a panel discussion led by the Hon Justice MJ White.

Entry is free - although donations will be taken for the Caxton Legal Centre.
