Justice infrastructure

Our department is committed to modernising its facilities to ensure the justice system is fair, open and accessible for all Queenslanders.

We are building new courthouses and upgrading older ones throughout Queensland to meet the demands upon justice services and to keep pace with the state’s population growth.

Our designs take into account the needs of courthouse users, including vulnerable people. For example, many courthouses now incorporate facilities such as vulnerable witness waiting areas which prevent witnesses from having to come face-to-face with the accused person in public waiting areas.

State-of-the-art technology is incorporated in new and older courthouses to help improve the justice system's efficiency and effectiveness.
