The Office of Fair Trading recognises the importance of helping children learn sensible consumer habits.

The Buy Smart competition provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their consumer 'smarts' and win cash prizes for themselves and their schools. For more information, click here.

Your local Office of Fair Trading may be able to provide a speaker for your classroom. Guest speakers conduct presentations to inform students of their rights and obligations when making purchasing decisions. Speakers can cover topics including:

buying a car
getting your own place
getting a job
credit
schoolies
shopping and more.
