Crown Law

Crown Law has been the principal provider of legal services to the Queensland State Government since the Colony of Queensland was established in 1859. We can only offer our services to government, not private individuals or organisations.

Crown Law operates as a self-funded business unit of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General. We have grown to become the state's largest Queensland-based law firm with more than 140 legal staff handling 4000 matters a year.

Our clients include:

• all Queensland Government departments and agencies
• statutory bodies and government-owned corporations
• commercialised business units
• disciplinary boards and tribunals
• local government authorities.

Crown Law has vast knowledge of public sector law and the legislative matrix that shapes and controls Queensland Government operation, having developed a valuable corporate memory of the intertwining legislation, regulations and policies - including their histories.
