Marriages

Our Registry of Births, Death and Marriages registers marriages that take place in Queensland.

We provide certificates from the marriage register including:

• official marriage certificates for legal and identity purposes
• commemorative marriage certificates for use as mementos
• historical marriage information for such purposes as family history research.

We are also responsible for registering ministers of religion as authorised celebrants in Queensland.

Our other marriage services include providing:

• statistical marriage information to authorised bodies for research
• certificates of no record of marriage in Queensland to help establish identity
• assistance with information on the legal requirements for getting married and on a celebrant’s responsibilities in registering a marriage.
