Becoming an accredited mediator
A mediator is someone trained in dispute resolution. Mediators help people in dispute discuss their differences constructively and come to an agreement that suits them both.Mediators are employed by our Dispute Resolution Branch, which provides free, confidential and timely mediation services to people throughout Queensland. The branch has dispute resolution centres in major regions and mediators report to the centre nearest them.
Mediators do not act as advocates, nor do they make judgements or offer opinions. Their role is simply to keep the discussion focused and to clarify the points raised by the people involved.
Dispute resolution centres recruit and train mediators to conduct mediations within the community. To become one of our mediators, you must first complete a selection and recruitment process.
