Becoming an appointed mediator with a Dispute Resolution Centre
A mediator is someone trained in dispute resolution. Mediators help people in dispute discuss their differences constructively and come to an agreement that suits them both. Mediators do not act as advocates, nor do they make judgements, offer opinions or give advice. Their role is simply to keep the discussion focused and to clarify the points raised by the people involved.
Mediators are employed by our Dispute Resolution Branch, which provides free, confidential and timely mediation services to people throughout Queensland. The branch has Dispute Resolution Centres (DRC) in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville, Rockhampton and Cairns and also has mediators based in many other areas in Queensland. Mediators are attached to their nearest DRC.
Each DRC appoints mediators to their panel as needed.
