Information services for young people
There are a number of different services available to help answer any questions you may have.
Logan Youth Legal Service
Logan Youth Legal Service (LYLS) provides free legal information, advice and representation for young people in Logan City and surrounding areas. During the 2008–09 financial year LYLS delivered services to 269 clients. Most young people supported by the service are aged under 18 years, and dealing with criminal law or child protection matters. LYLS also provides support to young people regarding a range of other legal issues. The team regularly engages in community education including school talks and maintaining a legal information website, law reform and crime prevention projects. LYLS is part of a larger community agency called Youth and Family Service (Logan City) Inc. For copies of LYLS brochures call 3826 1500.
Caxton Legal Centre
The Caxton Legal Centre Inc is an independent, non-profit community organisation providing free legal and social work advice, assistance and referral for the general public. Caxton’s services are designed for people who cannot afford a solicitor, for people who just want initial advice, or for people who want a referral to a private solicitor.
Legal Aid Queensland
Legal Aid Queensland (LAQ) provides legal information, advice and representation in family, civil and criminal law to disadvantaged Queenslanders.
It is the state's largest criminal law defence practice, employing many of Queensland's leading criminal defence lawyers. LAQ’s Criminal Law Services represent children and adults charged with criminal offences before all courts in Queensland. From magistrates court duty lawyer services to complex trials and appeal cases in the higher courts, LAQ protects people's rights and plays an integral role in Queensland's criminal justice system.
LAQ’s Civil Justice Services provide advice and representation in criminal injuries compensation, consumer law disputes, anti-discrimination law, farm finance and administrative appeals.
LAQ offers services from 14 offices in Brisbane, Southport, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Woodridge, Inala, Caboolture, Maroochydore, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay, Mount Isa, Townsville and Cairns.

QUT mock trials
The Queensland University of Technology - Faculty of Law presents an interactive mock trial in its electronic moot court at QUT Gardens Point Campus for visiting school students. The Mock Trial is free of charge to encourage students to learn more about law and the exciting careers available.
