Program

The community information sessions will include presentations and questions and answers.

Presentations will include:

  • an overview of the laws about trees and dividing fences
  • mediation options available to neighbours with disputes by the Department of Justice and Attorney-General’s Dispute Resolution Branch
  • the role of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) in the dispute resolution process.

Questions

Questions can be submitted prior to the forums. Please note that due to the high number of questions received, it may not be possible to answer all. In these cases the most frequently asked topics will be discussed.

Questions are to be emailed to NeighbourhoodDisputesResolution@justice.qld.gov.au with the session location and in the subject line.

Please note that the event speakers will not be able to provide legal advice at this information session. If you require legal advice on your specific circumstances you should contact your solicitor or your local community legal centre.

Questions are to be worded generally. They are not to be specifically about an issue you or someone you know is experiencing. For example, please write ‘How does the law apply in a situation where…’, rather than ‘ My neighbour has…’.

For general information about the Act, please call 13 QGOV (13 74 68).
