Our ministers
The Department of Justice and Attorney-General has two Ministers. The Hon. Paul Lucas MP, was appointed Attorney-General, Minister for Local Government and Special Minister of State from 21 February 2011. The Hon. Cameron Dick MP was appointed Minister for Education and Industrial Relations from 21 February 2011.

Paul Lucas served as Deputy Premier and Minister for Health between March 2009 and February 2011 and Minister for Infrastructure and Planning between September 2007 and March 2009 and Minister for Transport and Main Roads between 2004-2007 and Minister for Innovation and Information Economy, with ministerial responsibility for Energy between 2001-2004.
Mr Lucas, 49, a solicitor prior to entering Parliament, has Bachelor degrees in Economics and in Law and a Master of Business Administration.
He was elected to the Queensland Parliament in October 1996 as the Member for Lytton, an electorate which covers several bayside suburbs in Brisbane's east.
Mr Lucas’ personal interests include music, reading and refereeing kids football matches. He has three sons and a daughter.
Minister for Education and Industrial Relations, Hon. Cameron Dick MP
Hon. Cameron Dick MP
Cameron Dick was elected to the Queensland Parliament as the Member for Greenslopes in March 2009.
On 21 February 2011, Mr Dick was appointed as the Minister for Education and Industrial Relations.
In this role, he is responsible for more than 1200 State schools, 38,400 teachers and almost half a million State school students.
His portfolio also carries responsibilities for child care centres, kindergartens and early childhood education, along with supporting Queensland universities.
As Education Minister, Mr Dick currently is responsible for implementing the government's significant education reform agenda. This includes:
- continuing the government's strong stance against bullying and violence in schools
- lifting standards for teacher training and induction
- the roll-out of universal access to kindergarten for all pre-Prep Queensland children by 2014
- engaging directly with parents, teachers and principals through his 'Raising the bar' initiative.
Mr Dick is committed to continuing the strong and valuable partnership with the non-state sector as a minister for education for all Queensland.
In his capacity as Minister for Industrial Relations, Mr Dick has been committed to protecting the rights of working Queenslanders.
Since his appointment, he has launched the 'Zero Harm at Work' program to help reduce the rate of injury and death in Queensland.
He has introduced significant legislative changes to help protect Queensland workers and is overseeing the national harmonisation of workplace health and safety laws.
