Flexible working conditions

Our department has a number of initiatives that can help you enjoy a healthy work/life balance including:

  • flexible hours of work
  • flex time – hours worked in excess of seven hours and 15 minutes per day can be accrued and may be taken as days off
  • part-time employment - including an ability for full-time employees to work part-time until your child turns five years old
  • job sharing opportunities
  • purchased leave – a form of leave without pay that gives you more time off in a year than the standard four weeks recreation leave
  • special responsibility leave for caring purposes
  • cultural leave
  • parental leave – including 14 weeks paid maternity leave and an additional period of leave for up to 96 weeks
  • telecommuting – arrangements can be made to allow you to work from home
  • phased retirement - you can gradually reduce your work hours to prepare for retirement.

  • JAG awards – held annually to recognise outstanding achievements in service delivery

Generous salary packages

Our department provides competitive salary packages and generous superannuation.

Each year, you are also entitled to:

  • 20 days recreation leave
  • 17.5 per cent leave loading on your recreation leave
  • 10 days sick leave.

As a full-time employee, you are eligible for a performance-based increment each year until you reach the top level of your classification. Part-time employees are eligible after working 1200 hours.
