What does a typical day involve?
“My days are not typical. Every day has different challenges. For example I could be working with the homeless who need identification such as a birth certificate to enable them to get a roof over their head or an older person who has never had their birth registered.”
What is the best part of your job?
“I get a lot of job satisfaction from assisting people to have ‘that piece of paper’ to confirm that they really do exist, especially older people, who share their personal and confidential information with me.”
What has been your career highlight?
“Being acknowledged for being innovative and also being supported to implement new ways of doing business with Indigenous clients.”
What personal attributes do you need?
“To succeed in this job you need:
- strong communication skills
- analytical ability
- a willingness to be open to ‘looking outside the square’.”
