Children Services Tribunal
The Children Services Tribunal looks into some decisions about children and young people in government care made by the:- Department of Child Safety
- Department of Communities
- Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian.
It gives you the right to have your say on some of these decisions in an informal and less structured way than a court.
The tribunal promotes and protects the rights, interests and welfare of children and young people by:
- making sure their views and wishes are considered
- involving them in making decisions.
It is an independent body that answers directly to our minister and is separate from the agencies listed above.
The tribunal has a president, deputy president and about 20 part-time members. There is a registrar who is a lawyer who manages the running of the registry office and support staff who organise your application for review.
