Training courses and events for electrical safety are held by the Electrical Safety Office, throughout the state. This calendar shows dates and locations for these events.

Law and penalties

The Acts, Regulations and codes of practice enforced with prosecutions, enforceable undertakings and fines that ensure healthier and safer workplaces in Queensland.

Electrical product recalls

These electrical product recalls are provided n the interest of public safety. Recall notices placed on this web site are not withdrawn until the Electrical Safety Office is satisfied that all items have been withdrawn from use.

Alerts

Safety alerts are issued by the Electrical Safety Office to alert both the electrical industry and the community to electrical safety risks arising from electrically related fatalities, and urgent and significant electrical safety issues.

Safety advisories

Safety advisories are issued by the Electrical Safety Office to provide timely information and advice to the electrical industry and the community on a range of electrical safety issues such as legislation and obligations, and emerging issues.

Business and industry

Information for businesses that manufacture, import and retail electrical equipment. Electricity suppliers and distributors have obligations under electrical safety legislation. This section provides information about how to meet obligations under the legislation in all workplaces.

Incident notification

All electrical incidents must be reported to the Department.

The roles of electrical inspectors and electrical auditors.

For householders and consumers

Safety switches, use of generators, electricity in the home, storm safety and an interactive educational program for children.

Electrical workers and contractors

Laws, licencing, training, requirements for electrical work and inspecting and testing equipment, and how to work safely with electricity.

Risk management and safety seminars

The Electrical Safety Office (ESO) is conducting free seminars on the latest risk management practices which came into effect on 1 January 2010. The seminars will also cover related changes that are reflected in four revised and re-issued electrical safety codes of practice.

The seminars are an opportunity for those working in the electrical industry to update their knowledge on current electrical safety codes of practice, and to recognise the risks and identify solutions for working around electrical equipment and live electrical parts.
