Exposed live parts prompts Reject Shop Christmas rope light recall
Date issued: 2011-12-16
Christmas rope lights have been recalled after Electrical Safety Office Inspectors found live wires protruding through the plastic, which could lead to an electric shock.
Sold by the Reject Shop stores across Australia between October 2011 and 9 December 2011, the Christmas Controllable Ropelight 10m has a label attached showing model number LSRC-10 on one side, and a batch code TRS052011 on the other. The Reject Shop is voluntarily recalling these rope lights.
The Electrical Safety Office advises anyone who has purchased a rope light from the Reject Shop to disconnect the item from the supply before inspecting the label to identify the model number and batch code. If it is the identified product, cease use immediately and return it to the store for a refund.
Inspectors found the exposed live parts during regular Christmas store audits.
The Electrical Safety Office reminds the public to play it safe and use only approved lighting products, please check out the safety hints on the Electrical Safety Office website.
