Electrical work licence (permit holders)

An electrical work training permit allows a person to train and gain the experience necessary to meet the eligibility requirements for an electrical work licence.

Permit holders may need to complete a structured on-the-job training program coordinated by a supervising registered training organisation.

It is issued for one year unless cancelled sooner.

You need to complete the application for electrical work licence (other than apprentice) (PDF File, 382.0 KB) if you:

  • did not complete an apprenticeship or
  • want an electrical work training permit or
  • want some additional classes or endorsements included on your current Queensland electrical work licence.

It is illegal to perform electrical work without a licence or permit in Queensland.

Electrical apprentices, trainees or students of electrical work supervised by teaching staff do not need to hold a permit while training.

Take care in completing the form. Read the guidelines and provide all the information requested.

Incomplete or incorrect applications may be considered withdrawn. The Department of Justice and Attorney-General will keep some of the application fee for administrative costs.
