Restricted work licence/permit (other than apprentice)

An electrical work training permit allows a person to undertake training and gain the experience necessary to meet the eligibility requirements for an electrical work licence.

Permit holders may need to complete a structured, on-the-job training program coordinated by a supervising registered training organisation.

Complete the form carefully and provide all the information requested.

Incomplete or incorrect applications may be considered withdrawn. The Department of Justice and Attorney-General will retain some of the application fee to offset administrative costs.

What you need to include

  • Your licence or permit number if you have ever held a Queensland electrical work licence or electrical work training permit.
  • Your registration number if you have completed a training course with a supervising registered training organisation.
  • Proof of identity if you've never had a licence or permit. The application form has details of the documents required which must be verified by a Justice of the Peace or similar
  • If you hold electrical qualifications from another Australian state or territory or New Zealand, provide details of your licence, permit, certificate or other authority.
  • Qualifications of your calling.
  • Evidence of training or experience in doing the incidental electrical work. You need to supply course certificates and statements from your employer or a statutory declaration if you’re self-employed.
  • Evidence that your trade or calling requires some electrical work to be done from time to time. An example is a letter from employer.
  • Details of any relevant training courses you’ve completed with a supervising registered training organisation.
  • Proof of current resuscitation skills such as a current certificate.
  • Fee as listed on the application form. You can pay by credit card and cheques or money orders should be made payable to The Department of Justice and Attorney-General.
