Contracting for electrical work in Queensland
An electrical contractor licence is needed if you are providing electrical work for others as a sole trader, in partnership or corporation. Under the provisions of Section 32 of the Electrical Safety Regulation 2002 (PDF File, 1.02 MB), Schedule 1 an electrical contractor licence from another jurisdiction is not an external equivalent to a Queensland contractor licence. Therefore, you must also hold a current Queensland electrical contractor licence to contract for electrical work in Queensland.
Refer to Section 40 of the Electrical Safety Regulation 2002 (PDF File, 1.02 MB) for more information on eligibility requirements for an electrical contractor licence.
Note: There is no external equivalent licence to a Queensland Electrical Contractor licence.
