Serving and non-serving defence force applicants

If you had trade training in the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Regular Army or the Royal Australian Air Force. And you were issued with a relevant qualification and you want to work as an electrician or electrical contractor you will need to have your skills and qualification assessed.

If you were issued an Australian Recognised Tradesman’s Certificate (ARTC), you can complete the application for electrical work licence (other than apprentice) (PDF File, 382.0 KB).

If you have not been issued a qualification, you will need to apply to Trades Recognition Australia (non-Queensland Government link) for an Australian Recognised Tradesman’s Certificate.

In either case you may be required to do some extra training via a registered training organisation with regards to your trade in order to qualify for a work licence.
