Relocatable construction premises and other electrical equipment on site

What the standards require

Electrical installation must comply with AS/NZS 3000 Electrical installations (known as the Australian/New Zealand Wiring Rules) (non-Queensland Government link) or AS/NZS 3001 Electrical installations - Relocatable premises (including caravans and tents) and their site installations (non-Queensland Government link) and these requirements:

  • Supply is not to be taken from inside other relocatable premises.
  • Only use the power points inside the relocatable premises to power electrical equipment and lighting inside the premises.
  • Power points installed on the outside of the relocatable premises shall only power:
    • electrical equipment and lighting immediately beside the structure
    • other relocatable premises when the power point is part of an interconnecting system. Maintaining requirements for flexible cords.
  • Power points inside or outside relocatable premises not to be used to power an appliance inlet on the same relocatable premises.
  • All components forming part of an interconnecting system to be of equal or greater current rating than the protective device for the system.
  • Flexible leads supplying relocatable premises are to be 15 metres or less.
  • Inspection and testing of relocatable premises in line with AS/NZS 3760 In-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment (non-Queensland Government link).
