Recall notice to whitegoods repairers - OMEGA and SMEG dishwashers
Repairers of whitegoods should visit www.justice.qld.gov.au to stay updated on current recalls of electrical equipment. By keeping up to date on the latest electrical recalls, repairers can offer an enhanced service to their customers by passing on information about recalls.
One recall that the Electrical Safety Office (ESO) would like to remind repairers of is the OMEGA and SMEG dishwashers recall.
The OMEGA and SMEG products subject to recall were manufactured between November 1998 and May 2003.
Look for OMEGA and SMEG dishwashers with a nine-digit serial number ending in 0, 1, 2, 3, 8, or 9.
The safety issue is that a plastic coated capacitor fitted to the dishwasher has the potential to overheat, leading to failure and possible smoke, water and heat damage.
If repairers are requested to attend to one of these dishwashers they should contact 1800 180 347 or visit http://www.hagemeyer.com.au/, the organisation responsible for the coordination of the recall of these products.
