Four of the codes are updated versions of previous codes and there is a new code of practice about risk management.
New standard for selection of cables
A new standard for the selection of cables was published by SAI Global in late 2009 and will be used by Queensland’s Electrical Safety Office as the basis for ensuring compliance with electrical safety legislation on work performed from 1 June 2010.

Brisbane company and manager fined
A Brisbane-based company N-Com Pty Ltd has been fined $35,000 and its company manager fined $5000 after directing unlicensed workers to conduct electrical work.
Licence suspended
During a recent hearing of the Electrical Licensing Committee, electrical contractor licencee Vladimir Knezevic was fined and his licence suspended.
