Apprentice safety highlighted

In February, inspectors from the Electrical Safety Office (ESO) held three electrical safety awareness seminars for 92 apprentices from Ergon Energy and QBuild.

The seminars are a key part of the ESO’s strategy to further reduce the number of electrical injuries and fatalities in Queensland.

Electrical Safety Office Executive Director Peter Lamont said apprentices are the future of our industry and we have an obligation to ensure that they are equipped with the best safety tools and advice that we can provide.

“Queensland’s rapid growth is placing increased demands on the electrical industry and we all have a responsibility to maintain, and improve, safety standards to further reduce the number of electrical injuries and fatalities.”

The seminars were held at Townsville, Rockhampton and Brisbane, and were well received by the apprentices, with several mentioning that they had found the introduction to electrical safety to be a valuable resource.
