DC isolators for PV arrays

AS/NZS5033:2005 Installation of photovoltaic (PV) arrays requires PV arrays to have a means of disconnection such as an isolating switch, for the purpose of isolating the PV array.

Where DC circuit breakers are used for this function it is important they are installed and connected in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and installation instructions, specifically the polarity of the connections of the device. Failure to install these devices correctly may affect the safe operation of the device and result in damage to the PV equipment and the installation.
