Queensland Work Safe Awards 2010
The judging of entries for Category 5 - Best solution to an identified electrical safety issue, is now complete with a record number of high quality entries making a difficult decision for the judges.
Entries for the best solution to an identified electrical safety issue were assessed against the following criteria:
- What was the workplace electrical safety issue?
- How was the solution developed?
- Has there been a demonstrated improvement in electrical safety in the workplace (providing evidence to support these improvements)?
The winner of Category 5 – best solution to an identified electrical safety issue, was announced at an industry ceremony at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre as part of Safe Work Australia Week (24-30 October 2010).
The award went to Ergon Energy for its "Overhead Powerlines" campaign which has been highly effective in reducing the incident rates for at risk industries by up to 40 per cent in the road transport industry over a single year. This shows the positive and successful communication and interaction that the company has with the Queensland community.
Ergon Energy also received $1000 in prize money to put towards health and safety initiatives in their workplace.
