‘Don’t DIY’ warning signs

All electrical work must be performed by a licensed electrician‘Don’t Do-It-Yourself’ (Don’t DIY) warning signs are popping up in businesses around the state in compliance with new laws which took effect on 1 July 2011.

The new signs aim to raise awareness in the community that certain types of electrical equipment must only be installed by a licensed electrician.

The Electrical Safety Office is initially taking an educational approach to warning signs compliance, giving retailers time to adjust to the new requirements.
