Safe Work Week Awards

The entries have been judged and the verdict is in for Category 5 - Best solution to an identified electrical safety issue.

Baulderstone Pty Ltd, a Kelvin Grove based building and engineering company, has taken the award for its proximity alert ‘spotter warning device’ which supplements its use of human ‘spotters’ when working in close proximity to underground and overhead services.

Entries for the best solution to an identified electrical safety issue were assessed against the following criteria.

• What was the workplace electrical safety issue?
• How was the solution developed?
• Has there been a demonstrated improvement in electrical safety in the workplace (providing evidence to support these improvements)?

The winner was announced at an industry ceremony at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre as part of Safe Work Australia Week (23-29 October 2011).
