Contractors - have you maintained eligibility?
Your electrical contractor licence eligibility must be maintained at all times.
Your eligibility and the right to trade depends on:
- maintaining insurance and financial requirements
- having a current qualified technical person (QTP) and qualified business person (QBP) for the licence
- the contractor licence being held by the trading entity.
If you have staff changes or if your business structure changes, for example from a partnership to a corporation, you need to consider any changes that affect the status of your contractor licence.
If you change insurance companies, make sure the contract of insurance meets contractor eligibility requirements and the insurer signs a new Certificate of Currency form.
You must inform the Electrical Safety Office of changes such as having a new QTP, and you must apply for a new contractor licence where a new corporate or other trading entity is created to undertake the company's electrical work.
Further information is available from Infoline on 1300 650 662 or go to Applying for an electrical contractor licence.
