Play it safe working around solar PV systems
Grid connected solar PV systems are now common on many homes across Queensland.
When performing electrical work on installations of this type, the Electrical Safety Office reminds electrical workers to ensure the system is correctly isolated before starting any electrical work.
Solar PV systems must be shut down in accordance with the manufacturer’s shutdown procedures, which should be displayed near the isolator.
Even with the main switch off, never assume the solar PV system is isolated from the installation.
Always prove the installation and electric circuits and equipment you will be working on are de-energised.
Always test before you touch.
Always ensure any supply isolation points are under your control and cannot be inadvertently operated without your authorisation.
