Conditions of accreditation
Conditions for the application and appointment of accredited auditors include:
- Accredited auditors must maintain their capabilities, skills, and knowledge for the duration of their appointment. The accredited auditor must keep records which confirm the maintenance of these capabilities.
- Corporations who are accredited auditors must maintain their capabilities. Personnel associated with the assessment and validation of the safety management systems must also maintain their skills and knowledge.
- A corporation seeking appointment as an accredited auditor must nominate a director of the corporation as the nominee. The nominee will be responsible for assessing and validating the prescribed entity’s safety management system.
- Accredited auditors are subject at other times (following the accredited auditor’s initial audit) to monitoring and review by the Departmental during the performance and/or following an audit to ensure compliance with legislation as well as the accreditation terms and conditions.
