Urgent recall on Christmas Ropelights sold at The Reject Shop

Queenslanders are being urged to check their Christmas lights following a nation wide recall.

The Christmas Controllable Ropelight 10m, sold in The Reject Shop stores across Australia between October 2011 and 9 December 2011, has been recalled in the wake of safety concerns.

During regular store audits, Queensland’s Electrical Safety Office found a fault in the Christmas Controllable Ropelight Model No. LSRC–10, with batch code TRS052011.

The ropelights may be clear, multicoloured, red or green.

Risks associated with the product include possible exposed wiring along the ropelight which could lead to electric shock.

The Electrical Safety Office has issued notices to stop sale and the importer, has voluntarily recalled the product.   

The Electrical Safety Office advises any person who has purchased a rope light from The Reject Shop to disconnect the item from the supply before inspecting the label to identify the model number and batch code.

Important information:

Defect- In some instances there may be exposed wiring, which could result in an electric shock.

Hazard- Risk of electrical shock.

What to do- Customers should cease using these products immediately and return them to any “The Reject Shop” retail store for a full refund.
