Electrical safety advice to employers of electrical apprentices and training persons

Date issued: 2010-03-08

Advice 1/2010

Employers are reminded of their electrical safety obligations to their employees and, in particular, to their apprentices and training persons under the Electrical Safety Act 2002 and the Electrical Safety Regulation 2002 (PDF File, 1.02 MB) (Part 13, Section 209).

This advice should be read in conjunction with the Electrical Safety Office Safety Alert Ceiling foil insulation risks to licensed electrical workers issued on 23 February 2010.

When required to undertake work in ceiling spaces where insulation has been laid on the ceiling structure, licensed electrical contractors, licensed electrical workers, apprentices and training persons must take practical steps to manage electrical safety risks.
