Christmas lights safety this festive season

With residents across Queensland digging out their Christmas lights or hitting the shops for some new decorative options the Electrical Safety Office is reminding the community to ensure they use lights correctly to avoid electric shocks and fires.

Before adorning your home and garden, always ensure your Christmas and decorative lights are appropriate for their purpose and location and are used safely. If you are using old lights check them carefully to ensure they are not damaged in any way and are working properly. When purchasing new lights make sure you buy safe Christmas and decorative lights from a reputable dealer who will know the electrical safety requirements for selling Christmas lights in Queensland.

For further information on using safe Christmas and other decorative lights this festive season visit the Electrical Safety Website.
