Historical index search tips
You can search the historical index for:
- births registered in Queensland up to and including 1914
- deaths registered in Queensland up to and including 1964
- marriages registered in Queensland up to including 1934.
Conducting a search
To search for an event, the following fields need to be completed:
- family name or given names
- start year of the search.
To refine your search, fill as many fields as possible, including:
- given names
- father's given names
- mother's or spouse's names
- years to be searched (you can leave the 'to' field blank to search all records after the date you enter in the 'from' field)
- year of registration (not necessarily the same year as the event).
Searches are not case sensitive.
Early church records
Births, Deaths and Marriages administers some early church records for baptisms, marriages and burials. These records are not listed within the above ranges.
These records are listed as having occurred from 1829. To retrieve these records perform a search with 1829 in the 'year to search from' field, along with any other required fields.
