Domestic violence protection orders

Domestic violence protection orders are issued by a Magistrates Court. Their purpose is to protect people who have been subjected to violence by someone close to them, usually their partner. They order the person who has committed the violence to stay away from the victim for a set period of time, and often include other provisions as well.
