Definition of domestic relationships
All of the following are considered domestic relationships:
Spousal relationships
Your spouse is the person you married (even if you are separated or divorced), your de facto, or the natural parent of your child, whether you are living together or not.
Intimate personal relationships
This is where two people are or were engaged to be married to each other including if they were promised to each other under cultural or religious tradition or where two people are or were dating each other (whether or not the relationship was of a sexual nature).
Family relationships
This is where two people are related to each other through blood or marriage. This includes someone reasonably regarded as a relative given that the concept of a relative is broader in some cultures, such as for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people.
Informal care relationships
This is where one person is or was dependent on another person (a carer) who helps them with their daily activities such as personal care. This activity must be required because of disability, illness or impairment. The help must be provided informally and not involve the payment of a fee or be care provided as part of an arrangement, such as Meals on Wheels or in-home care nurses.
