Check for overdue fines

Contact the SPER call centre to check if you have overdue fines.

Contesting the offence

You may be eligible to elect to have the original infringement offence heard in a Magistrates Court.

Court Orders

Supreme, District or Magistrates Court may impose a court order for an offence and grant you a period of time in which to pay the penalty.

Enforcement fees

If you receive an Enforcement Order but fail to act within the time specified, you may receive an additional enforcement fee for each outstanding fine.

Enforcement orders

If you have received an enforcement order from SPER, you can no longer choose from the options given to you on your infringement notice.

Enforcement warrants

If you receive an enforcement order, SPER may issue a warrant authorising the seizure and sale of your property.

Fine collection notices - bank accounts

If you receive an enforcement order and you fail to act within the time specified, SPER may order your bank to transfer money from your bank account to pay your debt.

Fine collection notices - employee wages

If you receive an enforcement order and you fail to act within the time specified, SPER may order your employer to deduct money from your wages to pay your fine.

Fine option orders

If you can not afford to pay a fine in full, or to pay by regular instalments, you may be eligible to have your fine converted to unpaid community service.

Immobilisation warrants

SPER may issue a warrant authorising the wheel clamping of your vehicles including cars, motorbikes, trailers or caravans. This warrant is called an immobilisation warrant.

Infringement notices

The infringement notice contains important information about the alleged offence and the fine and all your options are printed on the back of the notice.

Licence suspension

If you receive an enforcement order, and you fail to act within the time specified, your driver licence may be suspended.

Registration fees

When your infringement notice is lodged with SPER a registration fee of $53.00 is added to your outstanding fine.

Warrants of apprehension

When an individual who has outstanding fines with SPER lives outside of Queensland, and has failed to comply, a Warrant of Apprehension may be issued to recover the amount outstanding.

Warrants of arrest and imprisonment

If you receive an enforcement order and you fail to act within the time specified, SPER may issue a warrant authorising your imprisonment.
