Fine option orders

If you can not afford to pay a fine in full or by regular instalments, you may be eligible to have your fine converted to unpaid community service.

The order converting your fine is called a Fine Option Order. As long as you complete all the hours of community service ordered, you will not have to pay the fine.

If you do not complete all the hours of community service ordered, the Fine Option Order may be revoked and you will be ordered to pay the outstanding fine. You may also find it difficult to obtain a Fine Option Order on other fines in the future.

You can only obtain a Fine Option Order by undergoing a financial assessment to determine whether or not you are suitable. If you have any means of paying your fine, you will not be given a Fine Option Order.

If you have means of paying your fine, you can apply for an Instalment Plan by phoning SPER on 1300 365 635 or by completing the application (PDF File, 80.7 KB) and posting it to SPER.

You can make an application for a Fine Option Order by phoning SPER on 1300 365 635 or by completing the application (PDF File, 80.7 KB) and posting it to SPER.
