The events promoted in the Women's Safety and Violence Prevention community events calendar send a clear message that gendered violence will not be tolerated, and that our community will strive for promotion and protection of women’s rights, interests and wellbeing all year round.
Community groups are encouraged to register an event to be considered for inclusion in the calendar.
WOW Cairns

We’re very excited that the new dates for WOW Cairns have been locked in for Friday 13 to Saturday 15 May at Bulmba-Ja Arts Centre. We will be working to present the same program as planned for our postponed 2021 Festival. Stay tuned for additions and updates in the coming months when tickets go on sale. Curated in partnership with local women in the community, WOW Cairns will celebrate the achievements of women and girls living in the city and surrounding areas, while searching for solutions to on-going gender injustice. Beyond the inspiring stories from women and girls and their own personal journey in the popular WOW Bites sessions, the 2022 festival will feature a marketplace of local, women-led businesses and services, workshops and performances, and WOW favourite, Speed Mentoring. On Friday 6 August 2021 we were able to present the first and only performance of the award-winning Spinifex Gum in the Marliya Choir’s hometown to a full house at Cairns Performing Arts Centre.
