Wednesday 04 May 2022 16.30 pm

Centacare Family and Relationship Services

Each year to mark the start of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, Centacare in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Council hold a Candlelight Vigil to remember the lives that have been lost due to domestic and family violence (DFV). This a community event to help raise awareness of this important issue. Community members can start to gather from 4:30pm at Cotton Tree Park before the march commences around the park as a collective against DFV. Following this the Mayor formally opens the event and we hear form a number of guest speakers. The final event of the evening is the vigil itself which commences at 6pm, where people across the nation gather at this time to remember the lives taken as result of DFV. Professionals will also be on site to support anyone who would like information on where they can access support for themselves or someone they know.
