The events promoted in the Women's Safety and Violence Prevention community events calendar send a clear message that gendered violence will not be tolerated, and that our community will strive for promotion and protection of women’s rights, interests and wellbeing all year round.

Community groups are encouraged to register an event to be considered for inclusion in the calendar.

Join us for our delayed International Women's Day (IWD) Cocktail Evening to Break the Bias and build a strong, safe and sex positive Townsville Friday 20 May from 5:30 to 9:00pm at Molly Malone’s. Our JCU student prize winner for the best female engineering thesis will be presented. Of course there will be our wine raffles! Also we will be drawing our Thermomix raffle. We are honored to welcome Vicki Saylor and the co-founders of Sexual Healthy Cities on the speakers panel at this year’s postponed IWD fundraiser for the Zonta Club of Townsville Metro. Meet the speakers: Vicki Saylor, Emcee and panel facilitator - Vicki is a passionate singer, award winning performer and Townsville local dedicated to achieving positive outcomes for our region, particularly for the Palm Island community and indigenous youth. Vicki is Manbarra Traditional Owner and has been actively involved in cultural engagement and as a community liaison for more than 30 years. Anna Walsh, guest speaker and panelist - Anna is an ex-parliament, ex-government, ex-police officer, current feminist writer, equality activist, entrepreneur and hosts the A Woman Charged podcast. As a regular presenter on ABC Radio’s Risky Business, Anna uses her voice and active platform to persuade women to know their worth, speak up and close the pleasure gap. Keesha Booth, guest speaker and panelist - Keesha is a sexologist educator, social activist and co-founder of Sexually Healthy Cities. Keesha is on a mission to overhaul and reframe sex education for all ages and activate the conversation about great sexual health in Townsville. Zonta says NO to violence against women!
