The events promoted in the Women's Safety and Violence Prevention community events calendar send a clear message that gendered violence will not be tolerated, and that our community will strive for promotion and protection of women’s rights, interests and wellbeing all year round.
Community groups are encouraged to register an event to be considered for inclusion in the calendar.
UNDER COVER Documentary Screening

Following the premiere at Melbourne International Film Festival in 2022 and a national theatrical release, UNDER COVER will be screened at Elizabeth Picture Theatre on 8 December 2022, presented by Challenge DV and partners, and followed by a panel and Q&A. Narrated by Margot Robbie and sharing the often secret lives of an eclectic group of women across Australia, UNDER COVER shines a light on the devastating reality that women over 50 are the fastest growing cohort experiencing homelessness in the country. Their moving but optimistic portraits reveal the struggles these women face, and lay bare the flaws in our society, as well as our economic fragility in the modern world. This event, held during 16 Days of Activism, will include a screening of the documentary and a panel discussion on the key themes of the film, including the role domestic and family violence plays in enabling this crisis to occur, and exploring what we can do to address this. Our panel includes: Lulu Milne, Practice Director, Social Work, Women’s Legal Service Queensland Belinda Cox, Team Leader Safer Community Culture, Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (Micah Projects) Malini Raj, Head of Community Engagement - Group Customer Advocacy and Vulnerability, CommBank Jade Cronan-Thompson, Director - Service Delivery, Footprints Community Jane Hedger, Challenge DV’s Chair, who will be the moderator.
