Northern Beaches State High School
The Student Services Support Team at the Northern Beaches State High School are running a lunchtime activity during Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month to help students identify the differences between a respectful relationship and a controlling relationship.
The activity involves attaching cards that describe attributes of respectful and controlling relationships to a board with the headings Respectful relationships and Controlling relationships. Students are asked to attach the cards to the appropriate section of the board - sometimes the attributes are mixed up on the board and students need to unscramble them.
The activity generates discussion and students learn that some behaviours which may seem like love and attachment have more in common with jealousy, mistrust and control.
