Deadly Families Fun Day!
Over 2000 people participated in the Deadly Families are Happy Safe and Strong Fun Day which was held on Saturday 7th May 2016 at Riverway in Townsville. The event raised awareness of the issues around domestic and family violence and promoted support available in the community. Cultural dancers, keynote speakers, amusements and children's activities entertained the crowd, while over 25 local community services were present and provided information on their programs and supports.
The event promoted healthy and respectful relationships among individuals, families and communities and supported the ‘Not Now, Not Ever’ campaign. The fun day was coordinated by a committee including the North Queensland Domestic Violence Resource Service, The Smith Family, Relationships Australia, Family and Child Connect and Victims Assist Queensland, as part of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.
