Queensland Women’s Week
Each year since 2016, a week-long series of events and activities has been successfully delivered by community, business and government to celebrate women’s achievements and contributions.
The Queensland Government provides annual funding of $150,000 for a host of organisations to assist them to deliver activities and events throughout Queensland across the week.
This has been a welcome boost for many to help promote the value of women and girls and celebrate their achievements, particularly in rural, regional and remote areas of the state.
This initiative has provided the opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of women and girls, and showcase the proven benefits for all when women play an equal role in business, leadership and government.
It has helped to highlight the challenges that women still face in gender equality, and the priorities to be addressed for participation and leadership, health and wellbeing, safety and economic security.
Each year the momentum continues to build, with more and more events and activities being delivered across a range of themes including:
- ‘Good for her. Great for us. When women achieve, Queensland succeeds’
- ‘Queensland Women: Be involved. Lead the way’
- 'Celebrate wellbeing. Everybody wins'
- ‘Invest in Women. Invest in the Future’.
