Commission of Inquiry relating to the Crime and Corruption Commission

On 31 January 2022, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced an independent Commission of Inquiry into aspects of Queensland’s Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) as recommended by the Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee.

The Honourable Tony Fitzgerald AC QC was appointed Chairperson and retired Supreme Court Judge, the Honourable Alan Wilson QC, as Commissioner for the inquiry.

The Terms of Reference for the inquiry are based on findings of the report by the Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee that oversees the CCC (as outlined in the extraordinary Queensland Government Gazette—Vol 389 of 31 January 2022).

This inquiry will review the investigative and charging powers of Queensland's CCC, as well as the role of seconded police officers to the body.

The inquiry will commence on Monday 7 February 2022 and a report is due to the Premier and Attorney-General by 9 August 2022.
