New team to support corporate and community connections

A Corporate and Community Partnerships (CCP) team has been established in the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women (DCSYW) to assist in creating meaningful partnerships and connections between corporate, community, government and the non-government sector.

The team facilitates the establishment of partnerships between corporate and community organisations and domestic and family violence services, and provides opportunities to build upon the rewarding partnerships already in place. Many partnerships were established following connections made at the Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Community and Corporate Forum: Safe at home, work and play and the lunchbox sessions which followed.

The benefits of the partnerships are already evident, with services accessing governance and business skill support from a wide range of organisations. In turn, corporate organisations have been exploring opportunities for fundraising and volunteering, and enhancing awareness raising and prevention messaging.

Examples of partnerships include:

  • Telstra piloting the MATE Bystander program,
  • Bank of Queensland fundraising for the Chisholm Women’s Refuge.
  • Rio Tinto’s regular fundraising and donation of gift packages for Micah Projects.
