Novel way to make a difference

Department of Housing and Public Works (HPW) staff have come up with a novel way of raising awareness of the department's participation in the White Ribbon Australia Workplace Accreditation Program.

Two canvases are making their way around HPW offices, giving staff from the Gold Coast to Cairns the opportunity to make a pledge to stand up, speak out and act to prevent domestic and family violence (DFV).

Staff have rallied behind the DFV cause, with a range of initiatives and activities to raise awareness and provide support for people affected by domestic and family violence.

These activities include introducing a domestic and family violence policy, as well as providing workplace training to assist employees and managers affected by domestic and family violence.

Staff have also participated in Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, the Darkness to Daylight Challenge Run, White Ribbon Night and White Ribbon Day.
