Queensland businesses and community groups join fight against domestic violence
More than 130 Queensland businesses and community organisations recently gathered at the Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Community and Corporate Forum: Safe at home, work and play.
Harnessing corporate and community sectors in the fight against domestic and family violence presents a valuable opportunity to drive change across Queensland. The participating businesses and community organisations, including major media companies, law firms, consulting agencies, banks and sporting codes, have the capacity to reach millions of employees, volunteers and clients.
Information gathered at the forum will now inform the development of a framework to help support and guide organisations to take action to address domestic and family violence. The framework will include online resources and face-to-face tailored support.
Corporations and community groups can pledge their support and access information, advice and links to resources on the new Not Now, Not Ever. Together website. Organisations can share what they are doing and also identify areas where they would like extra support to take the next step.
Regular ‘Lunchbox Sessions’ will be presented by experts to provide guidance and help organisations turn their commitments into actions. Sessions will focus on specific topics including setting up corporate volunteering and building capacity of staff to recognise and respond to domestic and family violence.
